All of the activities sponsored by the Panaca Fitness Center are leading to this as a culminating activity of your fitness preparation. We have started the year with some 5 k runs, which anyone can feel good about. We have added a 5-mile run (the Condor Classic) and a 10 mile run/walk./bike (The Country Mile) to help you get into shape for a Half Marathon.
The course for this event is similar to that of the Country Mile, but extends for additional mileage to make the 13.1 miles required for a Half Marathon program. The course is slightly downhill for much of the course, with the beginning east of Rabbit Springs on a dirt/gravel road and ending at the edge of town near the James Bleak residence.
The Half-Marathon will take place on October 29, 2011. Meet outside the home of James and Kodi Bleak at 7 am, and we will have a hay ride out toward Rabbit Spring. You can drop off your bike anywhere you would like along the way--or not bike at all if you like. Running or walking is totally acceptible, as this race is billed as "low impact." Please indicate whether or not you will participate by 5 pm Friday, Oct. 22, so we can plan for how many will participate.
The scenery on this run/walk/bike event is spectacular and the course is gently, mildly downhill for much of the course. It is a dirt road, so a mountain bike is a good idea, but completely passable. There will be water on the course, but you might want to take your own.
